The rain is beating hard and cold on my window pane
Four o'clock in the morning, I'm awake again
I know the phone won't ring at this time of day
Even if it did I wouldn't know what to say

And I've got to get back home to you, sweet love
Got to get back home to you

When the music played so sweet we were dancing in time
I tripped over my two left feet and I stepped out of line
When I came to my senses I looked around, you were gone
Dance floor was empty, I was dancing alone

And I've got to get back home to you, sweet love
Got to get back home to you

I'm gonna buy a black guitar, I wanna sing the blues
Get a snakeskin jacket, alligator shoes
Maybe try a slide guitar, I just love the sound it makes
When it comes down to the wire I'll do anything it takes

'Cause I've got to get back home to you, sweet love
Got to get back home to you

I could write you a poem but I've done that before
Tokens of a poet's love I don't need any more
It's got to be fundamental, I know you want it straight and true
I'll give you everything I've got 'cause I owe it all to you

And I've got to get back home to you, sweet love
Got to get back home to you

And I've got to get back home to you, sweet love
Got to get back home
I just got to get back home
Got to get back home to you

Song Info
Some songs just ask to be sung - we couldn't resist this one from Allan Taylor. It heralded a change in guitar style for us, but still has that jiva blend and warmth. For us, it's a very very special song - we sang it to each other during our wedding ceremony on 12 August 2009 at Taylor Guitars in El Cajon, California, USA!

This song is on our album 'Best Friends' - you can buy the album from us at gigs and also from our Music page where you can see the full track listing.
